Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.

Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!

Join our P&C

To bring something up at the P&C, to vote or to have a say in a matter you do have to be a member, which means that you need to pay a $2 yearly joining fee.

Once you have paid this fee and attended one meeting you will have become a voting member.

Attend the monthly P&C meetings, held every second Tuesday of the month in term time at 7pm in the school library.

Volunteer at our school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• helping in the canteen
• getting involved in the P&C
• listening to children read in the classroom
• volunteering on sports days and other school events
• helping supervise excursions.

How can I be involved?

• Become a Class Parent. At the beginning of the year a new Class Parent is needed for each class. This role is easily accomplished by email and does suit working parents well.
• Help out with various P&C fundraising initiatives throughout the year. This may include trivia nights, Mothers' and Fathers' Day events, Fresh Food lunches held at school, etc.
• Help out in the uniform shop on Friday mornings from 8.45am onwards.
• Join in the fun however you can!

Executive Committee

The Nicholson Street Public School Parent and Citizens (P&C) Association is a volunteer-driven group that gives parents a voice in their children's education. It aims to enhance the school experience by collaborating closely with the school, teachers, students, families, and the broader community. The P&C enriches the school environment through the efforts of parent volunteers, input from parents, access to parental expertise, and financial support from P&C funding.

The P&C Executives are elected at the AGM which is held in July each year. The maximum term for each position is three years and the standing executive needs to be re-elected each year until their maximum term is up.

Primarily responsible for articulating the Committee’s vision and strategy. Is ultimately accountable for the leadership of the team and delivery of agreed plans. Drives events, sponsorship and fundraising activities.

Vice Presidents | Sophie Kennedy & Jess Atwells
Works with sub-committees to drive results across all school pillars. Assists in delivery of events, sponsorship and fundraising activities.

Treasurer | Carly Freel
Financial management, forecasting and compliance.

Secretary | Danielle Delaney
Focused on ensuring compliance with all regulations, insurances, members, and that the P&C operates in line with its Constitution.
