Halloween Festival

Nicho Halloween Festival 2021

2020 Nicho Halloween Festival

The global pandemic meant that we were not able to have a BIG Halloween Festival, but that didn't mean the students had to miss out on dressing up and having a great time!

Hosted by the Nicho P&C, our “students only” Halloween Festival took place on Friday 30 October, 2020 during school hours.

Everyone got into the spirit, helped along with a scary dress parade, crafts, games and puzzles, plus dance performances and a silent disco!

What a great day with some amazing memories! Please take the time to look at the Gallery section of our school website for some photos from the day.

As well as the "students only" Mini Halloween Festival held at school, the Nicho P&C refocused their energies towards supporting and promoting the local community. Through working with over 60 shops, eateries and service providers in Balmain, Rozelle and Birchgrove, they created a TRICKS AND TREATS DISCOUNT BOOK.

Delivering over $1,000 worth of savings, it could be purchased from the Nicho Shop and was available to EVERYONE – friends, family and neighbours!

This was a wonderful way to say, "Thank you",  and to promote our local community who have supported Nicholson Street Public School so generously over many years.

Nicho Halloween Festival History

The Nicholson Street Public School Halloween Festival takes place every year on the last weekend of October in the grounds of historic Nicholson Street Public School in Balmain East.

The Halloween Festival is the only known Halloween themed fundraiser in the Inner West and is particularly aimed at 5 - 12 year olds and with over 20 years experience it gets better each year. It is a unique and fun day for children and parents alike and captures the true spirit of this small community school.

Many local businesses have pledged their support over the years and without their support it would be difficult to deliver such an amazing event.

Although local business forms an integral part of the Festival, organisers are keen to point out that the festivities are not commercial. There's a lot of home-made ingenuity, we have very creative and resourceful parents who are committed to making this event a wonderful showcase for the school and its school motto 'Learning, Laughter, Life.'

A range of side-shows have been carefully planned to keep a family well entertained and from the moment you purchase your Halloween Tickets at the front gate the children (and their parents) will be entertained for quite some time. It's entertaining just walking around looking at all the hideously gruesome costumes the parents, students and local community members are dressed in.

The best way to get to the festival is on public transport as parking in Balmain East can be limited. Nicholson Street Public School is a 5 minute walk from Balmain East Ferry Terminal or take the 442 Bus from the city or 444 and 445 from Leichhardt and Rozelle.

For any further information on the event or if you would like to support the school in some way please contact Devina Solanki at: 1.devina@gmail.com
